OK so i have just turned 30 and would like to start this year off with some excercise and start to lose some weight.
I am 5 foot 8 and 12 and a half stone.. I don't look massive but have like that brit beer belly look from excess drinking which is well behind me.
I don't want to join the gym.
What i want is a good easy routine i can stick to.. Like for example running/jogging..When it is warmer i will go out each night but i have no idea about how far/long i should be running and are there any simple exercises/routines i can do in the house?
Oh and my diet is crap. I am an ex smoker, drink every other weekend and have never tried to lose weight before.
My diet is appaling.
I drink lots of tea, do not eat breakfast, sandwich at dinner time and something greasy at night and plenty of snacks in between(crisps etc).
Thanks please help...I gave up smoking 4 years ago and have slowly put on weight and being out of work is doing me no favours.

You seem to know what you have to do. The only question is can you do it. Set a simple goal for yourself and then think of simple life style changes you can make to reach it. If things don't work out make an even simpler goal.
My cousin was overweight and it was almost exclusively due to drinking large amounts of soda. After multiple complex diets and exercise regimes which all failed, he settled on the goal of every time he opened a can of pop, he would only drink half, and had to drink a full glass of water and wait at least 2 hours before he could finish the cola. A very simple plan which he stuck to, and though that probably did very little for his weight (though it for sure helped somewhat), just the mentality of success and control helped him on his way to a now healthy weight.
Remember it's not a problem, just a challenge. Also congratulations on the smoking and just so you know exercise is the ultimate drug, albeit I have never tried opiates haha.

Three to four days a week, 2 miles on the treadmill, brisk walking uphill 7-8 on the display. Drink a lot of water and avoid sweets. After 4 weeks I lost 8 pounds. Not bad.
Try it ...it will work. You will sleep better and feel better.
Remember it is all up to you.....
