Hi everyone

I'm Keri. I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself, and hopefully gain some knowledge about getting around this site. I stumbled across this website when I was googling exercise plans.

I've joined the gym, but am finding that their advice about a proper routine is very general. I don't feel that the women are all that helpful. They tend to just say "10 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes on the cardio". I don't find that fitting because I think I need more cardio. It's a great gym, and I continue to go there because I truly enjoy it, I just need a bit more advice then what they can give.

I'm struggling to find the proper workout routine. I have to admit, I just looked at the routine that has been set for me, on FT and it seems like it focuses alot on muscle toning. Is that how the workout routines are? Or should I try for another routine? Truly, I'd like to drop about 80lbs (I'm 5'7 and 230lbs). I'm worried that if I tone muscle, I won't loose weight, or is that just a myth?
:surprised:

Also, with the workout I've been given, it shows a list of 4 sets to do for the same body area. Does this mean I have to do all 4 sets of varying reps in a row?

I'm looking forward to getting a start on getting healthy. Myself and 2 of the ladies in my office have begun "offically" tomorrow. I will definitely have to send them this way.

Thanks for your help and support!

Welcom to FT, tmcb! You'll love it here...tons of info and support. I would suggest you start by reading the many great posts and learn all you can about proper nutrition and exercise. Start by getting your diet in order and then introduce exercise to your daily life. don't be afraid of lifting wts, they are your friend, especially when it comes to giving you a great looking body! You'll need to do cardio to keep your calories down and burn the fat-3X/week would be good, but wt training will firm you up and build some calorie burning muscles as well.

So enjoy the site, read all you can, and good luck:big_smile:
