I can't seem to get a straight answer to this relatively simple question. How many calories to eat each day. I eat a pretty good balance of carbs, fats, and a lot of protein, but I can't get a good grip on about how much to eat.

Every site I go to is different, ranging anywhere from 2500-3500. 1000 calories is a huge difference if you ask me. I weigh 155, 5'10". I work out 4 times a week, only lifting though. Other than that I sit at work all week. When the weather is nicer I bike during the weekend.

If anyone can tell me how to come up with a good number here it would be amazing. Also if you could tell me how you got the number.

Depends on your goals, and what you are taking in. I don't care what site told you it, a calorie is not a calorie. The ratio of macronutrients will play a major effect.

I'll tell you what. Take what you are eating right now. Add in 10 more grams of fiber. 6 grams of fish oil fats. One tablespoon of olive oil.
Have a protein and fat meal before bed.
Drink more water.
Get most of your carbohydrates PWO.
If you know that something is bad for you, don't eat it.
If you want to lose weight, cut your carbs in half.

Numbers are hard to stick to. I have found individuals are more likely to get frustrated with a number. That, and I can't justify telling someone to count calories when I don't do it, and I don't know many that do.

A proven approach is a 50/20/30 p/c/f for fat loss. Keep this macro amount under your maintenance calories in a smart reduction manner and you will do well. Add in your energy output, keep trying to increase it by 10% or so weekly.
