I have a total gym (resistance body weight machine). I would like to know if there is such a thing as too much body resistance training...When I do a good 25 repetitions
and I become sore, does this mean it is time to stop? For how long do I stop if the answer is yes? I am concerned about this, how many times in a day should I do 25 repetitions? I usually switch forms on my total gym machine when I am working out, does it matter?

total gym is a poor excuse for an anaerobic exercise equipment...
beyond 12-15 reps all you're doing is building muscular ednurance...what you're experiencing is lactic acid build up in your muscles....the 'actual soreness' prolly doesn't kick in until after workout......
I suggest training with free weights....you're basically wasting your time....you cannot progress with this machine in terms of additional muscle or strength....it's like doing endless cardio hoping to grow some muscle...

Menace is right on with this one. I tell folks all the time, if you can do over 10 reps or so, you need to up the weight. There are 3 ways to build muscle(or forms), muscular endurance, muscular strength, and muscular size. The last 2 work hand in hand in most instances, but not always. Anyway, you are building muscular endurance more than anything.

I want to get one of these just so I can invite random hot chicks over to use it. Personally this thing looks more like something out of a bizzare porn movie.

I used to train a woman in her home on one of these. She had a couple other things, but this was her main apparatus. She actually got in pretty good shape.

I use a resistance body weight machine, but mine is like a little Bowflex..I did find that the lowest resistance is too easy so I switch between the two higher ones..but I also use an exercise ball and free weights to add to my workout..
I think the total gym maybe good for beginners, but I think you will outgrow it ....
As for reps,do as many as you can till you reach failure, which means that you simply CANNOT do one more(your arms feel shaky and rubbery?..then DO ONE MORE.....
