I don’t know about you lot but I cant train without some tunes blasting. The gym I’m at dose not have the radio that is not big problem as I bring my own music on my minidisk player. However I need to change what I listen to fairly regularly to keep me motivated, and am stuck as to what to add to my training disk now – any suggestions?

As for music tastes I’ve got bits virtually every type in my collection, so I’m not restricted there.

Um, why are you green? I listen to anything that makes me feel good. Sometimes it's RnB, sometimes it's Def Leppard, sometimes it's Eminem, but I do have to change it fairly often or I get really bored and don't work as hard.

Thanks but I was after anything specific – any suggestions? Oh and I am green as it was Halloween and I went as the incredible hulk, its one of the few photos I’ve got on the comp – my scanner bust and I don’t really use it often enough to replace it.

Anything that makes me feel tough. It can be girl power music, like Bugboo by Destiny's Child or You Make Me Sick by Pink. You're probably not much into girl power, but I love Pour Some Sugar on Me and Let's Get Rocked by Def Leppard. Any old heavy classic stuff is fantastic. Eye of the Tiger (the Rocky song) works, so does anything heavy by Metallica ect. I need something I can sing to so the stuff that has people screaming just doesn't work. If you can get your hand on stuff by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, it's really fun and puts me in a better mood.

Thanx, you are right the girl power thing not really my scene but I got some stuff by Pink on my disk at the moment (and the classic eye of the tiger). I will give some of those others a listen; at the moment my disk is swamped with dance that is great for my cardio but mostly useless for my weights. I need something to get my anger levels pushed right up for them – normally intelligible lyrics help for that. I will also try dusting of my Metallica (first CD I ever bought).

PS dutchpower have you got any good names for the hardcore scene, I don't really listen to much so would not know where to start.

Well...let me see, some good artist from hardcore scene are Da Boy Tommy, DJ Nosferatu, Danger Hardcore Team, Rotterdam Terror Corps and Neophyte...guess that would deal with it...

Anything DMX, but especially his earlier albums. Also Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan, and Eminem. I think the underground group M.O.P. has some of the best music to get you pumped, too.

alternative rock and heavy metal do it for me while lifting. Music definitely motivates and I usually have to have something playing.

Call me a dork, but the thing that motivates me to the max, is Rocky. Nothing is better than the Rocky collection from 1 to 5. Metallica, DMX, Linkin Park also work for me. They are just not as good.

Ha, well I've just started working out, but I used to get in a lot of fights, and now I use the same music for lifting as I did when I would fight (which btw is not worth it, talking it out is a lot better). Sometimes I'd listen to Eye Of The Tiger just because of the whole Rocky fiasco, but if you're looking for some heart pumping music and foul language doesn't offend you I'd put in a good word for Slipknot, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Murder Dolls, etc. Now, I'll go ahead and warn you, this music isn't for the people looking for insightful lyrics... They're usually pretty stupid, but it will get you in an intense mood (either that or baffled at the stupidity put into the music.. but either way it brings about emotion).

Yay for the moderator! Oh, to get back tot he original topic of this, a lot of the "gangsta/thug" rap works for me. I never thought it would, because normally I hate rap, but it might be something to consider.

reggae - spragga benz, lumidee, elephant man, mr.vegas, sean paul, wayne wonder
hip hop - the diplomats (seriously this music pumps me up more than anything - dipSet!!!), joe budden, lloyd banks or 50 cent, cam'ron by himself
you should seriously get diplomatic immunity by the diplomats - they're music is straight GANGSTA :) and it really does pump you up

Hello erirvine, I know it has been several months since your post, however, I have some suggestions for you and the crew. My recent MP3 selections have included:
- Rusted Root – Send me on my way (good warm-up music)
- 10,000 Maniacs – These are the days (warm up)
- Eminem – Lose yourself
- Nelly – Hot in Here
- Jlo – Jenny from the Block
- Misc – Moulan Rouge
- Britney – I’m a slave for you
- NIN – I wanna 4*c* you like an animal (good for lifting)
- Sublime – (goodness, I forgot the title)
- Rage against the machine – title? 4*c* you I won’t do what you tell me
- Kid Rock - bawitdaba
- Christina Agularia – Beautiful (cool down)
- Elton John – Tiny Dancer (cool down)

I used to have more to choose from - BUT, my loving hubby accidentally formatted my hard drive. DOE!

Tupac - hit em up
That song always gets me mad and ready to lift. I like listening to techno while I lift (and when I'm studying) because theres something about the fast beats that gets me going. Its kind of like you fell it coursing through your veins.

Godsmack, Metallica (especially the black album) and Linkin Park. I also find that a little bit of Rob Zombie thrown in the mix works pretty well

im afriad the thing that gets me going is korn. its hard its loud, and when i just want to stop the beat keeps me going. for streatchs i like manson, or linkinpark. just depends on my mood. nin and a perfect circle are always good too. i guess my biggest thing is having some with a beat that makes me want to just jump up and move!

You know I enjoy R&B and rap and techno just fune, but for working out that just doesnt work. My gym plays it and it just kills my workout. I use headphones and take them off between sets so when i put them on to begin it is like a killer rush! I killed disturbed and In Flames, right now I am in the process of playing out Ill Nino Rage Against The Machine. Basically anything with screaming and enough noise to kill your rational side will help you llift more, :)

You guys should try Nitzer Ebb - "Ebbhead" for some quality angry music ...very aggressive electronic stuff with good lyrics, good singer ;) Also Underworld, "Beaucopu Fish". Very rhythmic, I love it.

And The Kruder & Dorfmeister "Sessions" for stretching, if you're into that kind of stuff. Really relaxing.

It really depends on what you like but I exercise to DMX, 50, Ying Yang Twins,Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz. They keep you hype throughout your workout. And of course during cool downs you got to put in that Jay-Z
