Although i have only being training and dieting last 5 weeks i have decided to try the Atkins diet from tomorrow 18th, as i seem to be losing weight too slowly for my target of 34lbs in 12 weeks ,i lost 3,gain 3 lost 6 ,then 1 then 1 again.I go to the gym 4 times a week and lift sensible weights in longer reps .i will keep the progress posted here as other ppl say the same thing but u never hear from them again?well just one more glass of milk ,sniff sniff!

bigtosh...how much Cardio are you getting on those 4 days? Keep doing some weights cause you want to make sure you're still building lean mass, because it will burn fat for you. However to burn fat you need to do cardio and watch your diet.

I've read up a lot on atkins and while it works, I would not recommend it for an extended period of time because those carbs help you to burn fat...without them you take the risk of burning muscle. So while it does cause weight loss in the long run you're losing what your body needs to burn fat on it's own.

Just my 2 cents...may I have change please?

i had a change of heart on monday morning,i just didnt feel right about starting it .maybe it was the chicken breast i brought in for my lunch, but i dont know what it was i didnt feel mentally ready,so i will persevere on a low fat diet for the time being.Sstump how much cardio do you think i should do as when i got to the gym after work i only do 5mins on bike, 5 mins on free walker and 5 mins on rowing machine.i dont take it easy on these machines i try fat burner plus programmes on them.Anyway thank for your 2 cents worth.lol

15 minutes of cardio? Try doing a medium pace for 30-45 minutes and then finishing with a good pace in the end, I think it will work a lot better for you.

Bigtosh look into trying hit style of cardio. You see a ton of people at the gym that run for 45 minutes every day but stay the same weight. Running all that time is good for the ticker but doesnt charge the metabolism as well.
