I have actually lost 20+ lbs in 6 months but not the right way. Now that I am doing it the right way, I am at a halt. I run 3 times a week for appx 20 min b/c I had to stop running for 3 months due to knee injuries and am now out of shape. And, I cut back on junk food and calories. I am going to start weight lifting next week to see if that helps. But, is that really gonna make a big difference?

Lifting weights bulids muscle...the only know real fat burner is lean muscle mass. By that I mean the more you have the more fat you burn keeping it and gaining more

Weight training makes a huge difference. It not only aids in losing weight, but also reshapes your body. It is awesome and I always tell people that are trying to lose weight to weight train. I didn't start losing a lot of my weight until I starting lifting, and it make a huge difference.

Stick with a balanced approach to cardio-vascular (aerobic) exercise and weight training. The key for me was using a slightly lighter amount of weight, but doing more repetitions. This prevented injury, toned the muscles, and prevented "bulking up" (trying to look like a body builder instead of a generally healthy person). I also joined WeightWatchers. I'm down by 20 lbs. in about 3 months...a good, safe rate of loss. I cut out many (not all) sweets and have tried to tip the balance away from lots of starches toward lean protein and more vegies and fruits. It's all working.

Weight training combined with cardio and diet will do it. Just remember dont rush there is no magic just hard work and persistance but it all pays off. By the way welcome to the community

I'm new to ft but weight lifting made a huge difference for me. I lost fifteen or twenty pounds recently but kept losing size even after I reached my goal weight and went to a maintenance plan. The more muscle mass you gain, the more calories you need to maintain your weight - so it may be just what you need to break out of your plateau. I'm a good ten or fifteen pounds heavier than I was pre-kids, but because of the weight training I wear a smaller size and other than the stretchmarks, I look a lot better, too. LOL Plus, I love feeling stronger and having the stamina to keep up with my 4yo. Most of the time, anyway. Good luck to you.

I cut back and rearranged my diet for several weeks with absolutely no remarkable results.
I began lifting again after a 10 year hiatus, and while I gained a few pounds initially, I am now watching inches melt away.
I do keep to 1000 cals a day and 24 fat grams, but I feel the need to increase that as I get more and more into weight lifting.
