I usually eat one or two cans of tuna a day. Besides gettign strange looks from the cashier at the grocery store, I love it, and at about 35 grams of protien a can, it isnt a bad deal. Here is the thing though. It is BORING!!! Does anyone know any good recipes to mix up with canned tuna. I like tuna melts, but i dont want to eat to much cheese, I have heard something about tuna pizza with olives... interesting. I just need something to mix it up. Hmmmm ... now I usually eat my tuna plain, with some steamed veggies and balsamic vinegar. I also make a casserole by mixing together cooked pasta, low-fat cottage cheese, tuna, chopped onions, garlic, salt & pepper (you could add breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese to the top if you wanted) and cook it in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbling. It's not bad, especially if you eat it hot from the oven with ketchup or chopped tomatoes. |

I like to mix tuna in with Mac & Cheese (made with nonfat powdered milk) and 1 1/2 cups of frozen pees. Add a dash or two of pepper, some chopped onion, and VOILA!! Instant Tuna Casserole. |

I hate tuna...... I know it's good for you but I still cannot handle the taste (or smell!!).Anyway, my dear husband eats his tuna mixed with some egg whites, lots of spices and soup!! yes soup! No need to say that I find that rather disgusting, but it works for him. -------------- - Nina :o) La vie est toujours aussi belle..... |

I like tuna melts too. I use fat free Kraft American cheese slices (30 cal, 3 carbs, and 0 fat, per serving). I also make tuna salad out of 1 or 2 tablespoons Kraft Fat Free Mayo, chopped pickles, and onions (a 75 gram serving is about 60 cal, 3 carbs, 1 fat, and 10 protein). My melts are about 170 cal, 19 carb, 3 fat, and 17 protein when made with whole wheat toast. Of course you can always pack on more tuna for more protein. Hope this helps... |

I add a chopped tomato, or 1/4 cup peas and white basalmic vinegar. If you are adding a carb to the meal bake a potato and scoop out some of the potato and dummp the can of tuna onto the potato, spice it the way you like!-------------- Persistence and failure never stay in the same room......Leslie |

<laughs> Guess I'm odd like your husband ... and your post jogged my memory ... throw a can of tuna and a half cup of mixed frozen veggies into 1c of canned tomato soup.I tend to eat a LOT of tuna ... you get used to the taste (and your cat will love you for it!) ============ Quoting from Philia2: I hate tuna...... I put 1 Tbsp of Full fat mayo in it, 1/4 a tsp of Cayyanne pepper, and 2-3 Celery stalks chopped up. MMM.Or use the Celery stalks as edible spoons. Like with PB. |

I haven't tried this as i'm pretty much allergic to most seafood.. but I saw this a while back on abcbodybuilding.com .. http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000643 .. I would post it up right here but I didn't want to steal this guy's idea and tag it my own.. the people that tried it seem to like it... |
