On days I workout, I usually have this (yes, combined) as either a midday meal between workout and lunch. Or I may have it as the meal between lunch and dinner. I usually combine it with onion, mustard, sometimes relish, flax meal and some hot sauce.
My question is, with the oatmeal, is the carb necessary since it's after I workout? It sure fills you up.
Thanks,
t

carbs are essential after a workout. you've depleted your glycogen stores.. and need to fill them up to fire up the muscle building process. personally, if i dont have a solid carb meal after a workout, i could pas sout on the spot and sleep for hours.
i prefer to take in a simple carb (ie WHITE rice, WHITE bread, WHITE pasta.. you get my drift).. as this is a good time to get more carbs into your system. the oatmeal is good as well.. some people like the complex carbs all the time. i just find this is a nice break for me.. to have a big heaping plate of pancakes, a whopping plate of spaghetti, a couple of barbequed burgers on kaiser buns.. and is justified. if theres a time to cheat, usually after a workout is the best time. but then again, dont go too far overboard.. everything in moderation is the key..
now that i've strayed waaaaaay off topic.. i will comeback and say yes.. carbs are a must after a workout.
