I so feel like I'm slacking. I haven't lifted a finger to exercise in over a week. I am sick with some kind of cold that I think is turning into bronchitis.(I'm starting to get that feeling like there is paste in my lungs.) Plus, my toddler has been sick, first with the flu which turned into pneumonia. (That's why I haven't been here for a while.)
I'm starting to feel stiff and sore... it seems like from not doing anything (some of the soreness is from coughing.) I really want to do SOMEthing to get going, but every time I think about it I'm just... uuuuggghhhh too tired to get off my butt. I just want a hot bath. How do you get by when you're sick? geeksgirl |

Take care of you first.
Sometimes you'll do more damage than good by trying to "push through". Let your body repair what it needs to. Toddler permitting - rest if you feel you need to. By going to the gym you may also pass on the fun to others who will not appreciate it! :) Trying to workout while you're unwell can also prolong the sickness as you're putting additional stress on your imune system. Just my 2-bits! E. |

The most important thing is taking care of yourself as artemis-75 said. I have been ill for 4 weeks now and I am SOOOOO angry about not being able to work out (I keep getting a darn fever by the end of the day!) but the second most important thing is to NOT GIVE UP! Eat well while you are ill, drink plenty of fluids, and promise yourself you will get up and exercise when you are sure you can and not before. Do not use this time to eat garbage instead focus on good things that will also help with your recovery by providing vitamins and minerals that your body needs.
Wishing you well soon! -------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. HAVE A GREAT DAY! |

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids as Vedakathryn said, especially water. Drink a gallon or more a day. You might have to pee a lot, but you'll feel better. Hope you and your son get better.

I feel that keeping active helps you heal much faster...I was hit with the flu and took 2 days off then on day 3 worked out and i strated feeling better already it helps boost the immune system....Just don't go as strenuous as normal...light exercise...even getting outside and walking may help.

I went to the doctor today finally. He told me I have an upper respiratory infection. You all gave good advice. I'm going to start paying more attention to my 'intake.' And a walk around the block sounds GREAT!

Glad you went to the doctor! That is what I have, upper respiratory infection and being active just isn't an option as it is difficult breathing and you get shorter on breath easier. This one is a nasty one and every person I have met that has been unfortunate to have gotten this have carried it around for at least three weeks or more and more than a few got pneumonia out of it, so please take good care of yourself...this is one of those times it is best to rest and eat well and drink those fluids! If you do walk, make sure the weather is appropriate and that you don't over due it, every time I got going my fever did too! Watch and listen to your body for its required recovery! :) Hope you are feeling better soon!-------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. I think the antibiotics are taking care of the infection part pretty well. Now I am saddled with the dreaded "lingering cough." Don't you hate those? I've been doing everything I could think of to stop it. Including every kind of cough medicine the doctor tosses at me.
It's been keeping me awake at night, so I'm really tired. And my throat is just raw from the dry coughing. That part may be allergies. Everything in our neighborhood is covered with a layer of yellow pollen. I can write my name in it on our bbq grill outside! I'm taking my vitamins and did some gentle stretching today. Thanks for the support, everyone. geeksgirl |

try putting glass jars on ur back....it's like an old chinese/russian cure....these little glass jars they come in a box of 8-12.....wrap a piece of cotton around a penicel...dip it in 70% alcohol and light it on fire....then stick the lighted pencil inside the jar....which should suck the air out and then immediately stick it on the person's back....stick the jars one at a time on the meaty parts....along either side of the spine...starting at close to the neck and go down to the lower back......
depending on the severity of the cold....the circles from the jars will vary in color..... this method works quite fast...just 1-2 sessions....and it cures the cost much more effectively than just OTC medications just mask the symptoms....and antibiotics actually weaken your body.. | |
