I'm new to the site -- great site by the way! I've only been following the program for one week, and I am finding myself under my daily target for calories, carbs, protiens and fats (sometimes over slightly on my fats). However, in my first 3 days, I lost 4 pounds so it seems to be working. My question is should I be going out of my way to take in more foods that will raise my calorie / carb / protien intake while maintaining my fats at the target, or should I stay under on all of these items if possible? If it would be more beneficial for muscular development and weight loss to hit the targets, I may have a follow up question on how to do this.

First of all the 4lbs. lost could be many things besides fat. It probably is the loss of water reduction. I have never heard of losing 4 pounds of fat in 3 days. Of course you are going to lose more weight in the first week than any other, because your body is adapting to the new way of eating. After the first week it is a good idea to stay at one pound loss a week. Any more it is probably not just fat, it could be lean muscle tissue also, which you absolutely do not want to lose. The plan here is a guide to follow, and give you an idea of where you need to be. If you are losing the one pound a week and are happy with the plan, then keep it the same. If you are losing more than a pound you may not be getting enough food and nutrients to fuel your body to keep and hopefully build your muscle, so you will have to increase towards what the plan tells you. The best way to get the foods that you need to get to your targets would be to look at the thread "Gracery List for the Bodybuilder" at the top of this forum. This is a list of great foods to help build muscle and meet your nutritional goals. Hope this helps.

Yes I saw that thread the other day. My problem is that I am an extremely picky eater. I don't eat fruits or veggies, so I take vitamin supplements to get the nutritional values that I am lacking because of my diet.

Thank you for your response.

i have a question, do you have to reach your daily target, or is it better if you are under?
