I am not a overweight person but i seem to have problems with unwanted belly fat. Ok picture a skinny guy, like skinny everywhere BUT in his belly...Ya dats me lol. When i started doing cardio/diet i was around 170Lbs, after the 2-3 months of cardio/diet i was 144LBS. I had lost 26 LBS BUT i had also gained muscle mass so i probily roughly lost 30LBS of fat. Now ive stopd the cardio and started doing ab workouts to try and tone the remaining bit of belly left.
1) Am i doing the right thing by stopping the cardio...I dont wanna lose all fat EVERYwhere due to the fact that i am also weight training.
2)Is it absolutly nessessary to do cardio to lose the remaining bit of belly or can i tone it with situp excersices ect.
3) Which method is better for toning...a bunch of situps everyday, or a rigurous workout with resistance twice a week

Sorry for making da post so long :S, jus thout ude be able to help me better with more infromation

P.S. My mom is also having the same problem, she doesnt wanna do cardio because she will lose weight everywhere. She jus wants to lose the bit of excess fat around her belly. What method is best for toning... Thx SO SO SO much in advance. If u need more info jus ask
tytytyty

Jus to give u an idea of how much excess fat i have.
When standing u cant really notice a belly...But when i sit down theres a bit of belly da hangs over. Hope dat helps lol

aces - your question is answered in every post about abs.

You can't spot reduce or spot tone.

Getting rid of bellyfat is a combination of the right eating plan and the right workiouts.

I would suggest you borrow a book called "The Abs Diet" from the library and give the meal plans and workouts in it a fair chance. Follow it closely and you should see a reduction on belly fat and an incraese in lean muscle mass.

No I am not going to tell you what you missed. READ SOME posts, and do not tell me you have. this has been discussed 1000 times. Asimmer told you you can not spot reduce.....

DUDE i read TUNS of posts on abs none of which say wat is the best means of ab routine and isnt this site made so that when your confused with a topic u can pacifically ask what your confused about. Or am i wrong? Yes asimmer said u cant spot reduce ok, but that doesnt mean there isnt a specific ab routine that i would benifit more from then another or am i wrong. AGAIN I DONT KNOW thats why im asking!!!
Thx for the help asimmer and if u could elaborate on the right type of abs excercises you were refering too, i would much appreciate it
Thank you

abs routine? what like crunches? I mean really do all the "ab routine" you want. Unless the diet is perfect you will not see anything.

she meant a workout routine??? But all im asking is about abs so wouldnt be an ab routine? And yes i was refering to crunches/situps, and wat the best means of doing them are.
1) 100 situps a day everyday 7 days a week
2) Weighted Situps + cruch machine(with weights) + leg raises ect TWICE a week

With number 1 i thout it would probily tone more then 2 but i now kno u cant spot reduce. Man i dont know im so confused.
Number 2 i feel ALOT MORE, ill feel it for 2 days after
But ya that is wat i was askign which is better number 1 or 2
Thanks

I would do abs maybe 3 times a week. Qualtiy over quanity. You need to lift weight and exercise the whole body. Not just abs. again if you are not eating perfectly you will not see the abs I think it is like less than 5% of people get and or have visable abs.

Aces, try the FT abs routine and add resistance . Do crunches with a plate on your chest. Clamp a barbell between your feet to do leg lifts. Cable crunches rule and will kill you if you want them to. 3 sets of 10 for each exercise 3x per week is more than enough. Clean up your diet and you'll get there. I developed a good set of well defined abs within a year of joining FT. I promptly ler them go because I felt like crap eating the way I had to in order to maintain them. It's a matter of priorities. I'd rather feel good and eat well.

Although Mutt here is demonstrating his perfect sass monster routine(which I get the biggest kick out of...it's endearing and will grow on you aces!!:))what he's trying to explain to you is you must not have read very much if you're still asking this question...it is a tedious one that gets asked OFTEN!!!!What he says is correct...it's in your diet...if you want the six pack...if you just want to lose a few inches then doing any type of workout will do that...not just an ab workout. When you start a regular workout you will lose all over...including your abs...if you feel you MUST work on abs and only abs sign up for the abs workout in your fitness profile...or look up ab workouts on google if you don't like the one here...and you can make one for yourself. There IS NO perfect ab routine...any you choose will work fine...but Mutt asimmer and I are suggesting that you not focus on abs alone...work your whole body...more fun any way!!Welcome to FT!!

Shees mutt...you've been so good lately...thought I could leave you alone with the abs questions for a minute with out you getting all spun up...no worries...I'm back on the job!!!

Well....I can't read your post....only got working out your legs is rough on you...was for me too....it just takes some time...so you walk funny for a couple of days...you'll be OK.If you want advice from anyone whos opinion is worth squat on here...first...you must speak understandable english...2 you have to work your legs along with the rest...and 3...back off the abs questions until you are a little more informed....ofcourse if you don't really care who's answering your posts then disregard this...but if you are really looking for advice, and not for joe no nothing to blow smoke up your a$$...you'll take my advice.

Oh yeah, welcome to FT, Aces. You'll get smacked around for a while but the hazing stops generally when we find out you're serious and willing to do a little homework. Try the weights I suggested. You'll be surprised how well it works.
