hey gang!...I had a great weekend. As some of you know, my competition was this past Saturday and I'm pleased to announce that I placed second in my weight class. I live not too far from the venue in Manhatten but my fiance, my friend and his wife got a hotel so it would be easier to walk instead of taking the train or driving in(Manhatten has the worst traffic). Our room was down in Tribeca, a.k.a. the World Trade Center. Our hotel room was directly next to the site overlooking the disaster area. It was just a sad feeling because we knew that somewhere beneath that concrete makeshift lies our highschool friend. From that point on, the show had a different tone to it and it meant a little more to us. Being that it was Memorial Day weekend and usually we honor our fallen soldiers, we now honor these fallen heroes...the firefighters, the policemen and women, and the employees of the world trade center who lost their lives. As we walked to the venue on saturday, we passed along the site and stayed silent as we did so. We got there and weighed in...183.2lbs! I was ripped! and immediately we went to work carbing up and finding our little area to pump up. The pre-judge was actually done as part of the night show so there was no morning pre-judge. I hit my mandatories perfectly and I felt nice and pumped. My routine went even better...my coreography was right on point. I used the first 90 seconds of "Arials" by System of a Down. The bitter sweet ending came when they called out the top 5 finalists. When I was still standing there after they called the other guys, I was in shock. Low and behold, I look across the stage at the other finalist...it was my best friend whom I've trained with for years. I knew right away that I was not going to place first against him because he was the favorite to win. I was just glad to place and be acknowleged for my hard work and dedication. If there was anyone I would want to lose to, it was him. He ended up placing 4th overall. Immediately following the presentations, I slipped out the back door to meet up with my fiance and my friend's wife and we hurridly went down the block to get some New York pizza. It was the greatest pizza I've ever had. I proceeded to pollute my body for the next day and a half with stromboli, steak, rigatoni with bruscuti and pomodoro sauce, canoli, eclairs, ice cream, sabrett hotdogs, quarter-pounder hamburgers and plenty of other snack foods. I've already gained 8 pounds back in the last 2 days! It was a great experince and nw its time to pack on some muscle and get back to my powerlifting ways.:dumbbell:

Yes...the "dark side" where only the big boys roam. No joke...I have gained 20 pounds in the past 6 days. I only ate like a slob for a day and a half. I've been loading up on healthy fats and fibrous carbs. Its just my genetics...I'm not meant to be cut or skinny. I will posting some pics, I guess I'll create a hyperlink or I'll just use my profile pics. I don't pay for FT.com so I can only post the two pics.
I will now proceed to get huge and strong. Its great to be eating again!!! Thanks for all of your encouragement guys and gals. |
