hey, i just found this site tonight and am quite pleased, it seems you guys offer a lot of information and tips, what im wondering is. The difference between the free weights and machines, in my plan it shows an exercise (reverse grip curl) i think is what they called it, what im wondering is if i can use a pully type machine to do the same exercise , instead of the bar? the machine is similar to the tricept pull down but reversed.

You could do it that way. I don't commonly refer to pulley exercises as "machine" because all the pulley and cable do is redirect the weight resistance. You are still able to move in whatever direction you choose.

I found with that one that I had a hard time keeping my elbows in with a straight bar, but with a "curl" bar it was easy and allowed for really good form. I also found, and this is just me, that anything on the pulley I have to be much more cognizant of form and they seem to let me cheat a little more on form if you know what I mean...barbells and dumbbells bad form is a lot more obvious to me anyway.
