Hi, everyone, I'm just introducing myself, I am a Vegan & proud of it, it's a personal choice for ethical reasons, I won't judge you if you don't judge me  I know in the fitness world it's all about protein to gain muscle and a lot of the focus is on meat, but there are plenty of non animal choices out there, it just takes a bit more planning and thought. Are there any other vegetarian or vegan fitness enthusiast on the forum? I'm hoping I can get help from any one willing to offer it not just vegos, however I would love to touch base with other vegos & see how they are achieving their results. It's funny that Vegans are often portrayed (in movies etc) as being skinny & weak, but I can tell you, I've been a vegetarian (living a mostly vegan lifestyle) for nearly four years & I'm still struggling to lose that last layer of fat & I have to work hard to keep the rest of the fat from coming back, I know that if I 'let myself go' I could very easily gain back the 12kgs (26.5 pounds) that I have lost over the last four years through diet & exercise, and when I put the effort in to my weight training I can get strong, it's my previous experience with injuring myself that prevents me from lifting too heavy, but I am taking steps to avoid future injury (I never use to warmup before working out - I know, naughty, naughty). Well if you've put the effort in to read my little speil just now I thank you and would love to hear from you.

Hey there. Welcome to FT. I'm not a vegan, but my hubby and I do own two vegetarian cookbooks from which we get lots of great recipes. Soy protein powers are probably your best bet for "beefing" up your protein intake while lifting. I love tofu and beans and nuts, too. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting enough, though. Unless your are doing some extremely serious hypertrophy routines. Down a soy protein shake within an hour after lifting to minimize muscle breakdown. Beyond that, you're probably fine, so long as you're getting some protien at each meal/snack throughout the day. If you're ever interested in swapping favoring veggie recipies, let me know. I've got one called "Captain Tofu" that is awesome. :)
