I'm wondering what treats you all allow yourselves?

I'm a fairly healthy individual, but I've reached the point where 'fairly healthy' just isn't good enough anymore. And I just know there's some things I'm gonna struggle to reduce in my bid to get fitter.

Chocolate is number 1 on that list! I've been blessed with a fast metabolism and can eat crazy amounts of the stuff and put practically no weight on. I can devour a 200g bar in under 10mins and still crave more!

Coffee is another. It's probably my favourite drink - But when you take coffee, add two spoonfuls of sugar and a generous helping of semi-skimmed milk it's not even in the vacinity of healthy.

Perhaps the most dangerous treat I like to indulge though is the smoking of marijuana. I'm doing well with giving up cigarettes (it's now banned in enclosed public spaces in England) - but that wonderful green plant, don't know if I can say goodbye to that just yet :)

So how about you?
Do you not allow yourself any treats?
How do you control your urges?
Do you feel it's important to include treats as reward?

:)

Dark chocolate! A good source of anti-oxidants

I think distraction from the activity you relate to specific urges is the best way to beat them - go for a short walk, do some push-ups, take a shower, something that deviates from your habitual routine that leads to the behavior you wish to elimintae.

Also - having strong goals, and strong reasons to achieve them, and keeping those goals/reasons in the font of your mind helps, too.

I think rewards can be great - but I like non-food rewards like a new cd to listen to while working out, a pedicure or manicure, a new shirt, etc.

With Asimmer on the Dark Chocolate! My main thing is new gym stuff. If I want a treat I buy something new.... leg press is on the list right now!

My Catahoula did it.

I saw a book titled "Sex for Dummies" and wondered why
anyone would teach dumb people how to reproduce?

I will treat myself with a square (about 50 cals.) of 85% dark chocolate. The closer you get the 100%, the healthier. I don't really even consider it a cheat unless it puts me over my calorie limit. A treat for me would be a bowl of oatmeal in the afternoon. Last week I had ice cream, but I felt really guilty afterward and it wasn't worth it. As for the marijuana--haven't indulged since I was a teenager, so not sure what to tell you on that. Just wean yourself gradually...the healthier you become, the easier it will be for you to give up. You just won't want to continue poisoning your body in that way.

Hehe, I don't know like!
We'll have to wait to see on that one.

It's not too much of a problem at the minute. Any of my unhealthy sins. I think my short term goals can be achieved without losing these wonderful things! It's when the results are in I'm gonna have to have a re-think, to push on to the next stage.

Asimmer makes a good point about non-food rewards - That's a real good way to go about it I think.

Anyone else? Can't just be me here with a chocolate addiction ;)
