Very Fast muscle failure.

I started up at a new gym a few months back and really wanted to make general improvements to my upper body in size and strength. I asked one of the trainers there to help me out with a routine and he took me round the gym and put me through my paces. He worked me really hard and I was pumped to hell after the work out which I was really pleased about. The next day I ached like hell in fact I ached really badly for a week. Ever since this time I have found I can’t bench as much as I could in fact all chest exercises cause my muscle to near enough fail after two sets? Could anyone help me out and maybe shed some light as to what might be wrong?

You may have to reduce your weight and work up again. Sometimes when first beginning, the adrenalin is flowing, and you can actually do more than you really can. I hope that makes sense. Odd but true.

Also, work on strengthening your triceps and shoulders. This will aid in your bench work.

thanks bb1fit il give that a go and hopefully work my way back up on the bench. Its really any exercise directly aimed at the chest which im having the trouble with. It just gets very frustrating when im not performing as i have in the past if you know what i mean.

Don't worry about it!

I wouldn't let a few off day performances get your down. Somedays your lift like your He-man, the other days you can't lift if your life depended on it.

I find the right mind set helps me perform a lot better (having a friend with you, music that gets your pumped, focusing on the lifts). Just show up to the gym, lift as hard as you can and stop worrying about the numbers!

thanks for the replies guys. I think your right borillicus cause today i had one of the best chest workouts in a long time :big_smile:

YOUR BODY IS CRYING FOR REST MAN...

be carefull, this is very important. listen to your body. maybe a week of full rest will do the trick. try it, for my personal experience, i can say it very necessary and satisfactory
