Hi there, I have always been obese (well ever since I was very young) which when I was young wasnt my fault, but now I have to take responsibility for my own health and stop relying on others to do it for me.
By using the weight watchers points system I have managed to lose 26lbs in 3 months which is pretty slow, but I am keeping it off. I still want to lose another 60lbs but have no idea how to do it.
I live at home and dont really have much money or time (I try though) as I am a student. I try to eat healthy, IE. no fast food, food cooked in fat etc. and I try to limit my carbs to 6 serves a day (weight watchers advised that) and basically stick to weight watchers.
I have lost the 26lbs by walking 45mins 4 or 5 times a week, but I think it is going to take more than that to really drop the rest of the fat ! Any suggestions in regards to diet ? I am only 19, 5'11" and weight 280lbs, so obviously its pretty important I lose weight. I am naturally a big guy and even though I am so overweight, I dont really look it and still have some muscle tone (I have no idea how given I have so much fat). I DO have the motivation to lose weight, I proved that to myself by losing what i have already but I feel like I have so much weight to lose that its never going to happen. But as my Mum said, "You didnt get that big overnight, so youre not going to undo it overnight", I suppose she's right but its darn frustrating :/

Have you added resistance training to your program? There's a zillion posts on this site about added muscle revving up the metabolism ect. Check around. Congratulations on your progress so far and good luck with the rest!

Plus, if you exercise, you earn extra points with Weight Watchers that you can either use, bank, or just let go for an added effectiveness. :)

Absolutely add some weight training; the exercise itself counts for something, plus the added muscle will boost your metabolism and make the weight come off faster. Plus it's fun. :) Plus when the weight does come off you won't just be thin, you'll be buff, too! :D

It sounds like you're doing a fantastic job already; 26 pounds puts a really good dent in it. You're a third of the way there.

Hi I did the Weight Watchers too and made lifetime and will count pts the rest of my life. I lost 25 lbs and it took me 9 months to do that. I am an incredibly slow loser due to slow metabolism to hypothyroid. Anyways you keep counting those pts and do your program. The best way to lose is slow. Your skin will thank you and it tends to stay off longer. Think can I do this for life. So choose foods you like that are healthy and as natural as possible for a healthy lifestyle. Don't beat yourself up when you go off the wagon once in a while. We all do it. Just don't make it habit. Weight watchers has a great website. You can E mail me at rickyshot@usa.net for further info as that is another site than this. Don't leave this site though. I find it great for fitness . Definitely add exercise to the mix. Resistance is of utmost importance with cardio when losing and maintaining weight . Good luck
