Lets all remember those that gave there all for us!

--------------
When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been allotted to me? The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me.

SOme Gave All-Billy Ray Cyrus

I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero yes was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free
I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man
Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died America can't you see
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall
Some gave all
Some gave all

Mutt - there's a huge plaque at the entrance to the air force base I work out of that adds to that. It says:

"All Gave Some, Some Gave All"

A very nice sentiment mutt...

If you see a service member today...or you someone who has served..past or present...take a moment to just say thanks..it will put a light in there eye...they will say it is just a job...but that light in there eye will tell you different..

Thanks guys and gals in uniform...we are eternally grateful...

That song has always been a HUGE one for me. IT is a shame most cannot see past his hair and the Achy Heart song, but Billy Ray is a terrific singer and that song i recommend if you want to hear a very heartfelt song about the Vets of our Wars.

I surely hope all take a moment of silence at the very least to honor our men in uniform, past and present. What we have as a nation, our rights that folks flaunt so auspiciously these days, we have thanks to these folks.

My dad was in WW2, and every Veterans Day I say a prayer thanking him for all he fought for, and all the research he did to help our armed forces. :)

As a son of a Marine who spent 13 months in Vietnam I definetly have Red, White and Blue running through my veins. I make it a point to say hello and thank you every time I see a service member. Every day should be Veterans Day.

OK....I have to say this....when we first came back to the states and my husband was out of the military a few months he came home from his new job with this look of real pride on his face...I asked him what was up...he was talking to a man that worked a few doors down..an older gentlemen..it came up in conversation that my husband had just got out of the military...my husband said the man stood up and shook his hand and just said thank you...and it about floored my husband...he said that had never happened...and he was incredibly humbled by it...not enough people say thank you...thats all they want...a hand shake and a thank you makes it all worthwhile for them. They do a job not many could do...and the pay is minimal...I honestly hope you thank a member today.

That happens more than you think KC. As you know, I do more than a fair share of traveling and just about every time I show my retired ID at the airport, I get the same thing. I think those that don't appreciate it are in the minority and it is appreciated by the vets.

Thank you, guys, for all of your hard work. You are NOT un-appreciated...

"The Final Inspection"
Unknown

The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass.

"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The Solider squared his shoulders and said
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."

I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just to steep,

And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
