I heard that the first 10 pounds of weight loss is water weight. Is that true? If so would taking a pill like Diurex be okay?

The first ten pounds is only water weight if you are dehydrated, dieting to fast, or on a low carb diet.

And like bb1 said, why? While dieting, you want to avoid dehydration as much as possible. Even mild dehydration can slow your metabolism, which will make weight loss even more difficult. That is why almost every decent diet out there that you read will stress drinking lots of water.

diuretic pills are only good for medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, where the body cannot properly get rid of extra fluid and it gets into the lungs (those pills are prescription only). For a normal, healthy people taking an over-the-counter diuretic pill will only dehydrate you. You will feel like crap. you will just regain that water weight the next time you take a drink anyway. bad idea.

I just wasn't sure. I know around "that time of the month" women retain extra water and I was lead to believe that its bad.

stile stop watching the scale and looking in the mirror everyday...results will not happen over night....instead focus on how you're feeling.....how is the cardio going? what about your weight lifting? do you feel less stress? happier? etc....look for these other things instead...you will eventually notice dozens of things for the better.....eventually you'll look on the outside as you do on the inside....just eat well...workout hard...and sleep soundly....
