is it really important to weigh my food? If so how do you know how much of what is acceptable?

you need to weigh until you learn portion control
alot of people eat too much & don't realize it

You know by figuring out your intake needed and dividing it into meals and then reading labels or using tracking site like fitday.com to figure out how much equals what you need.
If you need 30g of protein and you find out that 4 ounces of chicken breast =30g protein, how are you going to know if your chicken breast is 4 ounces or 6 ounces, or whatever , if you don't weigh it?

an oz of meat is APPROXIMATELY the size of the palm of your hand..and that doesnt mean a heaping pile..hahahaha

Let me give you a great example of WHY to WEIGH!
Canned Tuna say's it's 6 oz but the lable say's that a serving size is 2 oz and there is about 2 1/2 servings, well this is wrong because I always get 3 1/8 oz from a drained can and no way can I call 2 oz a serving, more like 1 or 2 cans is a serving!

This is right on the money. Folks who tell you bahhh...no need to weigh your food who are in shape are that way for one reason. They learned portion sizes. This will greatly benefit you for instance if you go out to eat.

I guess this would be a good example of why you should weigh your food with a scale...to get an accurate measurement..cause I know i cant fit 3 oz of meat in the palm of my hand without it be a heaping portion but i do have very small hands...hhehehehe
