I just got back on the weight watchers diet and was wondering what some of you thought about it. It really helps me make sure I eat 2 or more times a day since I have a bd habit of once a day do to a low matabalism. To help with this I have started taking my Thyroid meds again. I mosty like to eat salads, chicken, turkey a sandwhich made with either lowfat or nonfat cheese and some mustard to taste on wheat bread. I'm working really hard to eat 6 small meals a day but sometimes I'm just not hungry. I believe going to the gym will help and start my weight training monday from this site. Also I was wondering what I should eat before I work out if at all? Thanks for your time and more info in in my profile to help, if you think I need to add more let me know.

Hi James,

There are several people here who lost their weight using weight watchers. I am one of them. The program was great to lose weight with but as I became more active, (lifing weights, cardio) I noticed that I was not feeling as healthy as I should have.

Thats when I started looking at ft again, once I signed up for everything and started keeping track of my calories rather than just my points I found I wasn't eating near enough.

The points just wasn' enough for me anymore I had to look at calories and boy do I feel better and I have tons more energy.

IMHO, eating 1 or even 2 times a day will really mess your metabolisim up. You should be eating at least 4 - 5 times per day, just small meals nothing huge. And yes getting more active will increase your appetite.


Before working out you want a good lean protein source and a good complex carb. About 1 - 1 1/2 hrs. later go do your workout. I will eat either peanut butter sandwich or oatmeal.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I think I will stick to weight watchers for now and drop as much as I can and see how I'm feeling. If I notice a change I will look more at the Nutrition plan on here more. Its a little confusing in my opinion. Maybe if I deciede to pay for a account here it is more user friendly. Thanks again and I will keep those interested updated.

I was a WW member too.
I lost the weight I wanted to, but in retrospect I definitely found it far too easy to eat a poorly balanced diet. I wanted to lost the weight but didn't have the personal control I needed to eat properly.
Counting points was definitely a good step for me though. I too was a little overwhelmed by the idea of having to count calories & carbs & proteins & fats. IT seemed like a very daunting task! But now that I've gained some experience and a lot more motivation it's not as bad as I first thought.
Since signing on with FT (3 months now) I've found I'm eating a lot more volume wise and I'm maintaining a very healthy weight and am building muscle. I still suffer from the urge to see "instant" results, however, thanks to the WONDERFUL & AMAZING people on this site I've been able to maintain my focus and continue on my path to my goals.

WW can be a GREAT starting point. And for some people it's an excellent program. It didn't work for me in the long run, but I'm only one person!

Hey, I have done WW too.
I am actually going to try it again because this eating clean thing is way too hard at this point in my life. What I am planning on doing is the CORE program vs. the FLEX plan. I am going to read about it more at home but I know it focuses mostly on lean meats, veggies, fruit and good carbs, like brown rice, yams, sweet potatoes and such.
You still get 35 points to use on non CORE foods but I will really try to refrain from using them.

I lost over 5 stones last year through WW (put on about a stone since Christmas mind you - my own fault, going out too much and too much junk food - I'm back on the diet so should lose that again soon enough). What really sold me on this rather than any other diet was the lack of rules. So long as you eat within your points, you can eat any food you like. I actually do WW through their Internet site which is great too because there are plenty of superb low point recipes which are really easy to cook (big plus) and taste pretty good also.

I also lift weights 3 times a week (4 times now) and go for a 40 minute brisk walk in the park next to my office each lunchtime. My only problem with the diet was that I was losing weight too quickly for a while and had to make a conscious effort to eat more to bring my weight loss down to 2-3 pounds per week. That said, I've really enjoyed losing weight with WW and my health has improved dramatically as a result. I'm now 14 stones 8, down from 18 stones 7 I was in April last year.

Good luck with it anyway. It takes a bit of self discipline to diet but not too much or I'd never have shifted the weight!
