hows it going? I was told that when you are doing a push up it is approximately 70% of your body weight you are lifting, if I weigh 217 and i wear a 40 pound book bag while i do push ups, will that be a realistic chest and strength workout compared to the bench press. Does this have the equalivent of benching 192 lbs. ?????

I think there is a motion/technique differance, I found after doing some hard core benching for a month and a half, and my pushups were the same as before I did that. Though I bet doing benching will help with pushups by strenghthening the muscles your using, and vice versa.

I think pushups can be very agonizing when you do burn outs. I used to do three sets of burnouts a couple times a week and that really helped me.
