gday all, i keep reading that for ab workouts to be effective there needs to be weights involved also there is an input weight section on the abs workout routine ive always just done straight exercise so i was just wondering how i use weights in exercises for abs like crunches?
Also this will sounds dumb but i am dumb so thats ok where you input your actual reps is this talking amount of sets you did of the target reps or actual reps?

When I do crunches, I'll lay a 25lb plate on my chest... for some of the other types of ab exercises you can use ankle weights (for seated leg tucks)

As for the input of reps... put in the amount of reps you do for that set.. if your target is 12 and you did 12, dandy, but put in the actual amount of complete reps you do... I don't believe you can round up on rep not completed!

And there is no such thing as a dumb question...

I use dumbells. For crunches keep it pretty close to your neck not too close thought :) For seated tucks, keep the dumbells between your feel.

25# Tim, I'm impressed!

Thanks...! I was doing about 75lbs before, but the plates were sliding about and throwing off the form... so, I dropped all weight, started with nothing and do the 25's... I'll likely stick with that as it's easier to control...

Tim, you can just hold 2-50 lb dumbells on your chest....1 in each hand. No sliding or balancing at all.

If you have access to cables, weighted crunches are ideal.

For lower abs, try putting a small dumbbell(doesn't take much) between your feet and do lying leg raises. These kill!

Tim you do realize I was kidding about the twin 50's. I use a 25 lb plate or 35 lb dumbell. If you wanna cry, read BB1's log on cable crunches.
