gday everyone
ive got three weeks till im finished school forever, i want to work for a year and travel then eventually settle down with a steady job (hopefully with the firebrigade).
Problem is my old man is going a bit crazy, hes saying i have to go to uni and do this and that, i understand its only because he wants whats best for me, but thats not what i need i cant be him or live his dreams for him. We've gotten into actual fights about it and its bringing me down and hes saying hes gonna kick me out of the house and stuff any advice?

Yes, go to university. Getting your degree will, more than likely, mean the difference between a life of struggle and a life of relative ease. Just my opinion.

Travel my boy travel!
If he's going to boot you out the house...well then you are few steps ahead on your journey.
Once you've settled and made the nest, bred and the rest, you'll look back and wander were the hell life went.
I say go now, go hard and live your dreams.

You have to think about your options and how they will affect your future Firemansam....it's hard to do when you are young and ready to get out of the barn, so to speak...but it has to be done.
As a business owner at 33, I would say that education is more important than travel...but, because of the nature of my job and the fact that I love what I do....that is easy for me to say.
No matter what you choose, remember that your parents have always tried to steer you in the right direction and during this time in your life, I am sure they are going to do that same thing. In the end, however, you have to do what your heart tells you to do and be willing to accept whatever rewards OR ramifications that come along with it.

Thankyou to everyone for the advice, im really still confused though.
Ive been told that i made the australia team for football and that we're going to america next year, i also got told that i stand a good chance of getting a football scholarship in hawaii.
Im in the rural firbrigade and that could put me in with a good chance at the firebrigade. theres heaps i want to do overseas and my mum and sister and rest of my family live back in the UK i have no idea what i do.

I can understand your wonder lust, but if you run into a situation where school is paid for the decision should be easier. Take the money get the education and then wonder. It is hard to get those paid experiences later in life. Besides college provides a lot of fun experiences in itself, and Hawaii at that, you go kid.

Take the best of both worlds.....study abroad. It'll make both you and pops happy.
