Question: Why is it when you start a diet that's when your house fills up with all the goodies you've ever wanted. Oreo I miss you. *tear*

Keep the road map in front of you, you know, your destination! Every time you srart with the cravings, think about the end result you are striving to achieve. This is really but a short time in the context of your life, and giving in will just keep you where you are. Set up a reward day...maybe once every 2 weeks or so. Have as a reward to yourself one serving of your favorite food. Eat it slowly, savor it, and get right back on the diet. This will help to keep the cravings from becoming binging. Good luck, it is not easy, but there are rewards when you are wearing that nice 2 piece bathing suit this summer, and all your freinds are still hiding in long sleeves and pants.

Aww thanks, you're like my voice of reason. I'm so grateful for all your support (and the fact that you haven't had enough of me yet)

Ooooh yes it can be hard.
What helps me is thinking about the others....... If they can do it so can I!!!
AND of course I think it's MY body and I want the results....

So I drink another gallon of tea, eat my chewing gum and keep my hands busy with something.

You can do it, stay strong!

FRIED PORKCHOPS, I am from the south, put some home made mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob, dripping in butter, top off with a glass of ice tea and I'm in there. OMG, I think I just gained ten pounds thinking about it. Oh well back to the protein shakes and boiled eggs, LOL

Up here in Quebec they have this dish called poutine (pronounced pooteen). I think it's gross but millions like it, it is french fries smothered in cheese curds, then gravy poured over it! I'll stick to sweet potatoes thanks!

I miss the ability to keep up at the all-u-can-eat with my brothers. They all have fast metoblisms and can eat like nothing else I have seen. I used to get 5-7 plates now I am lucky to get 3. I miss being able to eat a whole large bag of Doritos, a 2 liter bottle of Sprite, and then a bag of cookies. Now I down a gallon or more of water and eat 3-4 chicken breasts a day. LOL I still like it this way. But I always give my self a day or so to eat(within reason) wht I need to to stop those cravings, which this week is pizza, last week was pasta! LOL the darn craving changes all the time.

I don't know about missing things normally, because I generally eat pretty clean most of the time.

BUT, on the way home from the gym tonight, I had the massive urge for a big plate of lasagna, a couple of slices of pizza, and a double-double burger from In 'N' Out (for those on the west coast, you know what I'm talking about), all at the same time!!!!!!

But don't worry, I didn't give in. Just came home and had my post-workout shake.... *sigh*

Well, ok....we have a chain here called Steak N Shake. I absolutely love their chili 3 way and 5 way. It is pasta with chili meat and beans, onions, and topped with shredded cheese. Man, I get "hot" just thinking about it!! LOL....But, it is contest dieting time...42 days out, and can't give in. So to all, stay strong!

AHA!!!
lol right now I'm driking "Bojenmi" (made in China ;o) black tea (it's meant to be good to "clean" the system... luckily I like the taste too!) In one hour my tea will be one with green leaves, lemon, menthol, melisse (now what's the English word for that one?!) or some other herbs. I cannot help it, I love tea........
I hate the old classical ones though (the Brittish can keep those ones over sea!;-o ) mine are all different kind of herb ones. Winter or summer I don't care as long as my tea stays HOT (nohooo icetea for me please!).

Good stuff and it controls my appetite.

Mutt, I had to crack up when I read your post; I have absolutely no sympathy for you! Only three plates at the all-you-can-eat, you poor dear... I'm lucky if I get one my calorie allowance is so pitiful. ROFL

I don't miss particular foods, but I do miss just not thinking about it. I miss not regulating all the time. I miss sitting down w/ my hb and eating Ben and Jerry's out of the carton. Or like you said, Mutt - going to the all you can eat and really eating all I can eat! Which is a lot more than one plate! Instead of figuring in my head, okay, which is going to be a more filling 250 calories - a big bowl of oatmeal or a protein shake because I'm starving and I don't care how it tastes, I just want to stay full until bedtime because I ate that Christmas candy earlier and etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc!!!!!

Did I mention that i've made it my personal mission to find the best chocolate milkshake in the world. So far the best I've had was in Brussels, mmmm a good one. 2nd is Johnny Rockets (a US franchise it's over here on the east coast not sure if it's over on the west). But i'm always looking for more. *sigh* No chocolate milkshakes for a whilllllle

Ignorance truly is bliss.
I was perfectly happy eating Burger King and Taco Bell for lunches, heating up frozen pizzas or Pasta-Roni for dinner, skipping breakfast and loading up at dinner . . . but those days are gone. I know far too much to do that anymore. It's too bad too, that life was easy. Easy . . . yeah, it was easy, but easy is for sissies. Easy is no fun.
What do I miss? I try not to miss anything, but most of all I miss the convenience of being unhealthy. It's so much . . . easier. For someone who has always lacked self-discipline, doing the easy thing is, well, easy. I miss not being able to get a meal by handing someone money out of my car window. I do miss Easter candy, too. I could take down a whole freakin' bag of Mini-Eggs in minutes. It was pretty spectacular and quite a feat for a 140 lb. twenty year old.
Know what I don't miss? The gut. There's nothing worse than being skinny and fat at the same time. And I don't miss the grease all over my face all the time (particularly with fried chicken, it was never any fun unless I got it all over my face). I don't miss the lack of commitment. I don't miss getting winded on a couple too many flights of stairs. Sure, there are things to miss, but that's what makes it worth doing.
