Question for everyone. What is a facial and do men get them? I am getting married soon and wanted to know what I can do to look my best. What else is there besides a facial?
Thanks!

There are many types of facials and YES YES YES men can, should and do get them!!
Go to a reputable salon and day spa and do a consultation with a skin care professional. There are many types of facials...from simple and relaxing to those that attack any problems with your skin so it is best to find out what your particular needs are. A good provider will be able to customize the facial for you.
And don't wait until the last minute! Rarely will you receive remarkable results in one visit so if you indeed want to look your best, you will want to get started time enough to receive the number of treatments your professional recommends.
If you are just looking to look and feel great for the big day without a lengthy commitment, many spas offer couples packages that make for a nice pre-wedding gift for you and your bride to experience together...look into it, you won't regret it!!
Hope this helps,
Julienne

The "Executive Facial" that I offer for my male skincare clients is very basic...
I first prep for the facial by getting you into the facial room, and draping your face with warm, moist towels. (to relax you and open the pores of your skin)
Then I would evaluate your skin and cleanse with an appropriate product. After cleansing, I usually use a steamer to further open the pores and move on to extraction. (removing blackheads, pimples...you know, the yuck stuff)
After that, it could be lots of things depending on any special treatment I would feel your skin would benefit from. (ie, an exfolliating mask to remove stubbord dead skin cells or maybe a purifying treatment if your skin needs to be detoxified...or maybe a soothing mask if you suffer heavily from razor burn)
Then I would move on to toning the skin and then best part...massaging the face and neck with aromatic oils.
After all was said and done I would again tone the skin and apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type.
Yes, a facial is to bring out the healthy glow of an area of our bodies that gets a lot of abuse. Most often, you can get away with a basic facial like I have described above, however, if you suffer from acne or really dry skin...most often you would want to commit to a series of treatments designed to get your skin and it's ph back in harmony.
It all depends on what your needs are!
