Sure if you want to have some one to climb on your back and do calf raises with them on you. Arnold did that when he was trying to bulid his calves up

hmmm i don't think i'll be doing that. Could i hold a barbell on my shoulders and do calf raises?

Well those type of raises are usually done bent over. you can indeed put a barbell over the shoulders and do it that way, or hold 2 dumbells in each arm and do them as well.

I mean how exactly would it look like?

Well donkey calf raises are usually done with your toes ona step or ledge with the heels haning off to do the raises. You do this bent over from the waist and either someone sitting on your back for the weight, or as some gyms have a machine with a padded arm attached to a weight stack. This arm goes over your lower back and you lift it up by going up on your toes then goe down into the claf raise motion. And hey it is all right to be a beginner we all were there at some point. It is much better to ask than to do it worng and get hurt.

What is the benefit from being bent over? I don't think my gym has a donkey calf machine. I suppose I could take a block of wood and use the smith machine. Or should I just stick with seated or standing calf raises? Thanks!

Donky calf raises have a big differance feel to them, My gym doesn't have this machine, but I improvise! haha I will try and describe the way I do them.
1st go to a smith, find that pad, or a towl and wrap around the bar.
2 set up the bar at about waist level, with about 135( for the guys) maybe 50 for the ladies.( reamber bar only weighs 15 in a smith. And you waan be opposite how the clamps go.
3. get a bench, and place it in the smith, about 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet away from bar.And put a piece of wood, or somthing under the bar.
4. Step into the smith backwards, and go under the bar, and let you lower back get onto the pad or towel,
5. with your hands on the bench, and heals hanging off the wood, You back should be straight, and legs locked out and only moving your toes to raise up and down.
6.You shoudl only be bent at waist.
