I was wondering if some one could post an example of what would be an ideal diet? like what would be the most important foods to eat day to day and what is a must stay away food.

Sign up for the nutrition plan. The biggest things that I make sure of is to stay away from refined carbs such as white rice and white bread. Whole grain is the way to go. the other thing is to watch your fats. I try to keep my fat consuption under 26 grams per day. And of the fat I do eat, I try for unsaturated fats. The nutritional plan will tell you how much carbs, protein, and fat to consume per day and there are examples of what are good foods for each catagory under health rescources I think.

I did sign up for that plan but it seems like a lot of calories. Is this the most popular plan?>

It is a mistake to look for the "popular diet plan". All diets by any name in the end do the same thing in some way, deprive you of calories in some form. You need to eat sound, create a caloric deficit slowly, and you will lose fat. Keep protein high at all times to perserve lean mass.
