My doctor was saying too much protein messes up kidneys...I try to take about 1 g/1 lb of body weight...so for me that's 205grams, tho i ususally avg 120-150...The avg reccomended dose for avg person is around 50 grams a day...so I am wondering what is normal intake and will extra protein mess up healthy kidneys? I usually get all my protein from nuts, chicken, turkey and my favorite tuna...Occassionally i take protein shakes with 20-50 grams of protein...thoughts?

I'm 185 and take in about 330g. of protein, no problems. Just make sure your drinking plenty of water and your kidneys should be fine. You could even go 2g/1lb and still be fine, drink at least a gallon of water. Good Luck

I am no expert, but what I have read/heard is that the average person can process/utilize about 30 grams at a time. If you are weight training and going for muscle size, more than 30 can be utilized depending on your body weight and activity level. More than 40-50 probably would be a waste unless you are training competively and have a lot of muscle to feed. I would think the FT nutrition plan wouldn't steer you wrong, unless you put the wrong information on your profile screen.

The body can proces/digest as much as you throw at it. The digestive system is very efficient. It will be utilized as needed.

don't forget that your muscles aren't the only thing in your body that needs protein.:)

Protein will go towards just about everything in the body, hair, nails, bones, eyes and all of your organs in the body, and if needed, energy.
