Hi, just wonder if you could give me some opinions on my diet for the last week, becuase you all seem to know a lot about this sort of thing. Just so you know I am aiming to lose maybe a stone, and want to look slimmer. I'm 5'3 and approx 125 pounds.
Monday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. 1 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Snack - Banana, cereal bar Lunch - tin of spaghettie and sausages Snack - Custard Tart Dinner - Mushroom and cheese omelette Tuesday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. 2 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Snack - Banana Lunch - Beans on toast (wholemeal), cereal bar Snack - Chocolate biscuit Dinner - Chicken pie, new potatoes, carrots, broccoli Wednesday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar plus raisens. 2 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Snack - Banana Lunch - Salad inc cherry tomatoes, new potatoes, cheese. satsuma and raspberries. Chocolate biscuit. Snack - Cereal bar Dinner - Oven cooked chicken leg (skinless), mash potato, parsnip, peas. Snack - Ginger biscuit Thursday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. 2 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Snack - banana, cereal bar Lunch - Salad inc chicken, cherrty tomatoes, cheese, mixed beans, crisps. tinned peach segments. Dinner - Mushroom and cheese omelette Snack - banana with melted chocolate Friday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. 2 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Snack - Banana Lunch - Salad inc chicken, cherrty tomatoes, cheese, mixed beans, crisps. tinned peach segments. Snack - Blueberry muffin Dinner - 1 sausage, mash potatoe, beans, cheese Snack - 2 thorntons chocolates! Saturday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. 2 Wholemeal toast with margarine. Lunch - Beans on toast (wholemeal) Snack - yoghurt Dinner - Spaghetti and meatballs Snack - 2 Thorntons chocolates! Sunday Breakfast - Weetabix, skimmed milk, sugar. snack - yoghurt Dinner - Cheese and potato pasty, beans. I would normally eat quite a few meals of pasta but have tried to cut that out this last week, because not sure if that is what is fattening me up!! I am working on the basis of eating little and often (usually) and so having several 'meals' a day. I think it's reasonably healthy tho I have had a few 'treats' this week. But I refuse to deny myself anything, but just have a little bit of choclate every now and then for example. Any opinions / advice on my eating habits?? Thanks! and sorry this is so long!! |

Snarf, take a look at the grocery list for body builders post in this section. It's stickied with a red pin at the top. The food listed is what you want to build a diet on for good health as well as weight and exercise considerations.
I don't want to pick your meal plan apart but you have some work to do diet wise. Chocolate candy is ok once a week or so but not daily. it looks like you have sweets with most meals or snacks. Try splenda for a sweetener. If your food comes in a bag or box ready to eat it's probably bad. Same for food that contains white flower. You want to eat whole food that is high in protein and clean low sugar carbs. You also need healthy fats . It just takes some research here to figure it out. Start with the stickied posts here and you'll be golden. -------------- Foolish consistancies are the hobgoblins of small minds. Charlie

Snarf is a fish?
Well then the answer is yes, it's completely acceptable to include snarf fish in one's diet. As with all things though, moderation is key. -------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

No. jk. I think the etimology of this word as she is using it is a Rock group or computer thing. But....American Standard defines it as follows.
TRANSITIVE VERB: Inflected forms: snarfed, snarf·ing, snarfs Slang To eat or drink rapidly or eagerly; devour: snarfed down some cookies. ETYMOLOGY: Probably sn(ort) + (sc)arf.:big_smile: -------------- Foolish consistancies are the hobgoblins of small minds. Charlie

Smurfs, that's it, thank you David.
I don't think Smurf's are part of a balanced diet though, better stick with the fish. -------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

Yes, snarf is from thundercats!!
Thanks for the reply charlie, yes I did have quite a few sweet things like chocolate last week, I don't normally eat that much, but I do think it is fine in moderation. I'm not after a perfect, lean, fat-less body!! When I was a teenager I used to eat five bars of chocolate a day!!! at least I'm not like that now! and I assume splendour is a sweetner?? I would rather have suger, i believe it's healthier, even if it may have more calories or whatever. |

Snarf, splenda is made from real sugar and tastes, cooks and works the same. Just no calories. Sugar has no nutritional benefits. Hope the other suggestions helped.-------------- Foolish consistancies are the hobgoblins of small minds. Charlie |
