Your number one job is to get protein. Adequate amounts to sustain and grow lean tissue. In turn, lean tissue burns fat. Protein in itself is thermogenic. Digesting, absorbing, and transporting and storing food requires energy by itself. This is the thermic effect and adds a temporary metabolic stimulus. Add good fibrous carbs, which will supply you with added fat burning abilities and keep your metabolism honest, and you have an unbeatable combination for gaining lean tissue and losing fat. Use foods that are not processed, and that will be 50% improvement in your diet. The less processed the better. Fish, meats, grains, dairy, fruit, etc.
Good Luck.
