hey girls!
I'm quite a beginner to this whole fitness thing and I am trying to figure out my diet. On paper and in my mind it is perfect! but when it comes to actually doing it, it's so hard to beat the cravings for sweet stuff. I crave sweets all day; until about 6pm I can resist them, but each time they come stronger and stronger. In the mornings I try to calm them with a quarter or half a pear but later at night I don't eat anything because I know the pear wont do and I'll end up eating the pear plus something stronger. What should I do?

Well, I am not one of the girls, but have some ideas. Maybe a good tasting protein drink will help, with some good fruit mixed in it. Also have some good sugar free gum, or another good one is a sugar free jello freeze. Great tasing, no calories, and sweet to satisfy that sweet craving. My wife came up with this. Sugar free jello mix, blend with ice and water to a slush. Some suggestions anyway.

Are you taking all the esential vitamins and minerals? Are you getting essential fatty acids in your diet? I find that B complex vitamin mid-afternoon helps with cravings. Also a snack of some nuts preferably almonds (no salt)is better to stop the craving than feeding the sugar cravings. Some fat in the diet is better than the sugar.

Actually to answer your question Leslie, no I am not taking the essential vitamins, Just this weekend I was discussing with a doctor how deficient I am of al that stuff. He prescribed multivitamins and multiminerals, Omega 3 fish oils, trace minerals, q10 and high potency B-complex. So I think once I start with all that stuff the cravings will get better. But Thank you so much, I had no idea vitamins had anything to do with that.

Yes! they have everything to do with it! It is the number one factor, before any other supplement plan. I am sure you will see a big difference in how you feel!

Buy fat free sugar free pudding. Chocolate is best, and freeze it in those kid's popsicle makers. No fat, no guilt, great craving killer. It seems to be popular opinion around here that eating sugars makes you crave more, but I've found that just a little (emphasis-little) indulgence keeps a small craving a small craving, and If I can look forward to a little treat, I don't get sidetracked by the million big temptations out there.
