I have a very busy schedule, and sometimes I just can't go to the gym. I'm in high school marching band and it requires lots of after school time. What are some good exercises that will help me form a home workout?

you can do squats and lunges for legs without weights, the plank is a good one or abs. press-ups in a variety of positions will work your arms, shoulders, back etc. check out the freetrainers work out facility as they give you exercises you can do with little or no equipment.
all the best

With the dumbells you can do : -
- Curls (obviously)
- Side bends for your abs
- Flyers
- Bench press
- Lateral raises or seated dumbell press for the shoulders
- French presses (nice and convenient) for the triceps
- Lunges as some one mentioned

You can do almost every exercise imaginable (except deadlifts I guess) with dumbells, you're only limited by the fact they're kind of light at 20 lbs.

at 20 pounds it depends on what exercise you are doing. lateral raises, front raises, tricep seated press, french press etc... and at half the speed or double the reps- theres always the option to buy adjustable dumbells and a swiss ball- good old fashioned isometric tension exercises. at home though it's a motivational thing i find that hinders action. i mean sometimes i don't go to the gym but at home the telly is there before my free weights, that or food seems to come first so i suggest you look at your schedule in detail and force yourself to motivate

Check out the Oct. Issue of Mens Health. In there they have a big listing of products to workout with. Of them was a set of rubber bands that attached to two handles for resistance. They pop on and off for variable resistance as well. Pretty neat, and if you traveling or cant get to the gym, it may well work for you. You wont have to worry about lugging 40 extra pounds of dumbells with ya everywhere.

Thanks guys this really helped a lot. My schedule has cleared up quite a bit now and I can go to the gym whenever I want now. But whenever i can't go, I will use the advice that you all gave me. I will look up that Issue of Mens Health for the set of rubber bands. Thanks The_Tic and everyone else

Try anything, just think of movements, be inventive and creative, lots of things will work!
