Hi, I started going to the gym at 7:30am now instead of after work because my schedule has changed. Is it good to eat breakfast half hour before getting to the gym to work out or should I go on an empty stomach? What is good to eat in this situation?
Thanks in advance,
John

Ifit is that close to lifting, i would just have a whey shake, anything more might weigh you down. ideally an hour before you lift you want complex carbs, like oatmeal, and whey protein.

Amy, would you suggest whey on it's own or with simple carbs?

If you have time, whey with complex carbs.

When I do early morning workouts i find that a zero-carb whey protein shake doesn't upset my stomach or weigh me down.

I guess you could eat some simple carbs, but they won't sustain your energy as well as complex, but maybe better than none at all. I just never tried it.

I just thought in this example there wouldn't be time for complex carbs, and I didn't know if there was any point taking simple carbs as well as the whey or not.

When I exercise in the morning (which is rare) I usually do it straight away. I think I'll just stick to whey on it's own.

cheers.
