i think everyone has heard about the book "what to expect when you're expecting" as almost everyone gives it or gets it at the onset of a pregnancy.

i would love to know if there's a similar book for beginners who are trying to get fit. anyone?

i think that this would help beginners loads. i've been working out 5x/week for the past 2 1/2 weeks and i have no idea if my body is reacting or not cuz i don't look different at all and the scale says i am putting ON a little weight (yes, i know this is expected).

also, are there any available articles about how long the 'fat burn' lasts after your workout? i heard that it's MUCH less time for women than men. is this true?

thanks much, in advance.

Firstly, you have to stay off the scale and start using a tape measure every 3-4 weeks.

You might want to take a look at the book "Body for Life".
Good reading for beginners.
remember that muscle weighs more than fat and takes less space, could be the reason the scale went up. Judge by the clothes and tape.
Working out with the weights speeds up your metabolism and will continue to burn fat even while you sleep, because you are basicaly turning your system into a furnace to burn fat.
Hope this helps.

I just started reading a book called Lean Bodies By Cliff Sheats its one of three in his series but, it has really made me think differently about dieting.
