There's your answer. Stock up on ephedra products before they are taken off of the market. I know I am.

Death, that's why. Ephedra has been linked to a number of deaths, including one professional baseball player whose name I can't recall. Men's Health just did an article last month on the effectiveness of the ephedra-free fat burners. Conclusion? They didn't work. BUT, that hasn't stopped them from running the ads!

Is Ca California or Canada? They were banned in California already. I think they were banned in Canada long before that.
Ephedra was banned because people with an agenda twisted stories of severely overweight people who had complicated medical histories and OD'd on ephedra. |

============ Quoting from WAnglais1: Ephedra has been linked to a number of deaths, WAnglais1 ============= True...but could be stated better by saying ephedra has been linked to a number of illiterate obese individuals that overdose on the drug and go way beyond what it says on the back, and also like shane123 states already had underlying health problems....it's not the ephedra..its the idiots.... Kinda like this whole McDonalds deal...no more king size what!?!...tell Free Willy to just stop going...and quit punishing the rest of us...%$@$% people and their lawsuits of stupidity!!! -------------- If hard work and persistence were the keys to success, most people would opt to pick the lock.~Dick |

richardjst, thank you. Wanglais, I recommend really educating yourself on the facts about ephedra. First off, Men's Health magazine sucks, and second, it probably didn't mention a huge PUBLISHED study in the International Journal of Obesity, I beleive, that stated, ephedra not only works, but that it was VERY effective and safe for weight loss. AND that IDIOT baseball player that died had a family history of heatstroke (his brother died of it), he was overweight, out of shape and had no damn business being out on the baseball field, and he was dehydrated. By the way, ephedra has NEVER been conclusively linked to anybodies death, just stupidity, unfortunately, the governement doesn't tell you this of course. More people die per year due to peanut related allergies, LET'S BAN PEANUTS EVERYONE!!!

In the end, the governemnt is just pissed that they aren't making any money off of an effective weight loss product. And I almost forgot to mention the #1 killer on the rise, OBESITY. In my state alone, it will cost around hundreds of millions of dollars to take care of. But, does anybody try to ban McDonald's or Taco Bell, which IS linked to obesity which IS linked to death? Nope.

I will admit that i believe ephedra did play some part in SOME of the deaths that it has been blmaed on, but i also think that a lot of people were using it in excessive dosages, and being utterly stupid by not drinking water. You obviously get dehydrated faster when youre burning fat, and i don't think they all stayed hydrated. BY the way, i know for a fact that 100% of people who die after the age of 1, drink water. So by my calculations, that is a pretty strong correlation linking water to death. I'm going to propose that water be banned.

I believe I have educated myself quite well on the subject, thank you. I know that ephedra is not for me, because of other medications I currently am taking. Hmmm, something that makes my heart speed up and my blood pressure rise for an extended period of time...gimmie more of that! Why don't we just eat the correct foods and exercise more? What's wrong with that? While some people may be taking them beyond the recommended doses, this is just human nature at its' most stupid. It goes along with the logic if the pizza directions say cook for 10 minutes at 400 degrees, and I want mine faster, so I'll cook it for one minute at 4000 degrees! Now, for something that you might not know: since supplements are pretty much an unregulated industry, the companies are not required to report any adverse health effects because of the supplement use. The bottom line is there is no magic bullet, if it's ephedra or green tea or whatever.

I agree, there isn't a magic bullet, but it's sad when an effective supplement like ephedra which has aided in the fat loss of countless #'s of people gets pulled off of the market. In the meantime, obesity is becoming the #1 killer of Americans, talk about back asswards. I do know how unregulated the supplement industry is, but regulating it really wouldn't matter, because as I hope most of us know, the food companies still lie about there food products despite government "regulations".

I have seen advertisements for several fat burners and have been tempted to try some. In the past several months, I have reduced my wieght about 20# and am now gaining muscle mass - all with out assistance (except for creatine and protein). This makes my work feel like my own and not due to enhancers. It make take longer, but reducing fat on your own will only probably motivate you to keep the weight off in the long run.-------------- There is no substitute for hard work |

Right on BB1, I couldn't agree more, and wanglais, I also like having conversations like these where people offer valid and intersting and opposite viewpoints, and can discuss them in an adult manner, it's pretty refreshing.:)
I am not saying that ephedra is the cure all, but, it has helped to many people to just throw to the side, that's all I am saying. |

I agree about the diet and exercise. Like everything else when its a quick fix it doesnt last. Xenadrine did work btw but...its off the market and it wasnt just the Xen that helped...it was the hours spent and eating well that did the real trick.

BTW Efedra products were banned from military stores due to them causing a few very in shape soldiers to keel over dead, while doing thier normal workout, from heart attacks. . . it's not a goverment greed thing, it's a public safety thing.-------------- Love me as I am . . . Well, once again, what was the real cause of death. It can go round and round. As far as a public safety thing?, that doesn't exist. Nicotine and Alcohol come to mind, both kill, that's a fact, both are still readily available to all who wants it and WON'T be going away any time soon. I would have to say that the government not making a little profit has a little bit to do with it.
