You'll get a lot of differing opinions but I wouldn't waste the money in most cases. Organic doesn't have to be 100% organically grown to fit under that heading.

Organic does not mean healthy. It just means they don't add anything to it like artificial flavors in some foods, or they don't use pesticides on fruits and veggies. I think it is a waste of money myself.

We have a store in one of the "trendy" neighborhoods here that is an all organic store. My mother in law and I went in because it was on the way home, and 2lbs of hamburger, some tortilla chips, a case of water and some cereal came up to around $50. Nuts if you ask me.

I buy organic when I can. I'm not a big fan of artificial colorings, flavorings, and preservatives. I'm also not a fan of paying and arm and leg for food. A lot of discount stores are carrying organic foods now (WalMart, Sam's Club, Costco, Big Lots, etc). The cost of organic is dropping. In fact, I buy organic green tea bags and it's cheaper than the Lipton tea bags. My steel cut oats are organic and about the same price at Quaker whole oats. I buy organic whole wheat pasta and it's cheaper than the regular, non-organic semolina pasta. If organic foods are expensive in the store you normally shop at, go somewhere else and look around.
Here's some interesting info:
