My nutritional planner suggests 438 grams of carbs a day versus only 219 grams of protein. After reading about other people doing a split based on more protein, slightly less carbs and a small percentage of fat I am concerned the recommendations are inaccurate.
Based on 6 meals a day (with one of those being a protein shake) I must consume a little over 80 grams of carbs per meal!
I would appreciate any suggestions as to whether or not this seems like an accurate amount of carbs I should be consuming in a days' time.
Thanks

are you on a gaining program? if you are, consuming 2- 3 grams of carbs/lb bodyweight is common.. you are attempting to shock your body into growth, coupled with resistance training, and the only way to do this is a large influx of calories. of you aren't on a gaining program, slowly work your way up to this amount. if you make a big change right away, you have the potential to store large amounts of these calories by fat. set a reasonalbe goal, and slowly increase your intake over time. your body will increase its efficiency at processing more food, and soon you'll just be a straight up eating machine :)!

219 grams of protein is plenty.. you only need about 1- 1.5 grams per lb of bodyweight, anything above and beyond that could potentially be stored as fat. i hope this helps..

Bropie,
I am currently on the lean muscle gain program. To be honest in 3 weeks I haven't gained or lost any weight but I still think maybe that is too many carbs for my sedentary lifestyle (keeping in mind my only exercise is the FT program).
Thanks again
