Ok, I have just started watching my caloric intake and working out this week.... I know I may be jumping the gun and getting discouraged, but is this normal? Can you build muscle in one week???? Thanks for the help.

Don't get discouraged. Women's weight fluctuates alot. Mine has change up to 3lbs just overnight! Thank our hormones for that. The best thing to do is take some measurements, abdomen, thigh, arms etc, and then check that every couple few weeks. Try not to weigh yourself any more than once/week. Keep up with what your doing, but be careful not to cut your caloric intake to low or you'll just slow down your metabolism. Educate yourself on good nutrition and exercise by checking out all the info on this site. There is also a home exercise program you can choose from the FT exercise programs.
Good luck and welcome to FT.
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

Thank you, I never considered the hormones :) I will try to incorporate patience into my plan.... I signed up for the plan too - Waiting to start on Monday.... is it okay to work out 6 days a week? Or at least do cardio even on my rest days? I want to. Thanks again.

Ideally you would to your wt training 3X/week and your cardio 3X/week with at least one full rest day. Personally, I wt train for 1hr MWF and do cardio for 40min T/Th/Sat. Your body does most of it "muscle building" while resting, so you don't want to over do it.
