My weight has stayed the same obviously since I started. I understand that I am losing fat and gaining muscle and that muscle weighs more then fat and all that but after how many months should the scale start to go downwards. I started at around 227 and now i hover between 225 to 230 depending on the day. Im almost done my third week and have added double the exercises that FT recommended (but i feel good with no overtraining symptoms). How long did it take you?
Thanks in advance for the response.

Just to add to my last post. Im seeing from other posts that you have to choose between gaining weight and losing fat becuase of the diets. Am I supposed to carry this gut around until 8 months-1 year until I hit a cutting stage?

andyem...I would guess you need to take a look at how many calories you're eating. Track your diet for a few days (either on here or at www.fitday.com) and see how many calories you're getting and try to cut it back by 100-200 at a time until you start to see results. Also make sure your protein/carb/fat are in order. If you want to lose weight then look at a higher protein diet, to gain you can balance protein and carbs out. However always be careful with what and how many fats you take in, as they're 9X the calories (i.e. 10 grams of fat = 90 Calories), where as protein and carbs are 4X's.
Also you can check out www.mybodycomp.com and take and track measurements and it will calculate your BF%. So you can identify improvements in measurements rather then weight.
Otherwise if you're somewhat heavy for your size then maybe you should look at building lean mass and trimming the fat before trying to take on a bulking stage.
Hope this helps. Also fill out your goals in your profile. It'll help out considerably to identify your goals and putting them in writing, as well as help us in answering your questions.

Diet is the key, not more exercise.

I do have a good diet and then people tell me add more here and add more there which boosts the carb and fat levels up. I have my levels at exactly what freetrainers has recommended for me. Maybe these levels are too high who knows but my diet is 100% clean and I always stay within those levels. I guess I'll just stick with it for another month and see what happens . If there isnt a change I'll need to change my routine to just losing the fat first. Thx

The information in freetrainers.com nutritional plan is no more then a recommendation. Everyone is different. The information for my Caloric intake for my size was way too high, so I had to adjust it downward myself until I found the right combination. There are multiple threads with people questioning their caloric numbers from this sight. Try dropping 100-200 calories a week till you see you're losing about 2 lbs a week...that's what I did and as the fat is shrinking away I'm starting to appear leaner and more muscular.
