I am 17 weigh about 128 pounds and am 5'11" tall.
I need to gain weight, so my mom says. She says I should eat late at night and eat a lot.
She doesn't want me to "overdose" on protein because she believes there's correlation with my protein intake and acne.
What I'm wondering is if she is right and what time of the day should I be eating most of my fats, carbs, and protein?
Also, should I eat at night (past 7pm)? I don't want to get all flabby. I don't have the opportunity to get to a gym but I do have some 15 pound barbells that I workout with 2-3 times per week.
What do you all think?
Thanks!

abmagic - follow a sensible, balanced diet. Look at the grocery list for a bodybuilder and construct healthy meals based on those foods.
5 meals or 6 meals a day , consisting of complex and fibrous carbs, protein and a little fat will do wonders for most people.
Having a protein-based snack before bed is a good way to prevent muscle break-down as your body does reconstruction and repair while you sleep.
I don't know about the correlation between acne and protein - have you asked your physician about that? I think acne is mostly hormonal and hygiene related, but i haven't studied it.
Good luck!

and don't worry about eating late at night, it doesn't matter what time of the day you eat...your body doesn't know what time it is. But a good idea is to kinda cut back on the carbs before you go to sleep because your body doesn't really need a whole lot of carbs. Try eating your carbs early in the morning and at lunch. and high protein is best at night and throughout the day. I'm also not sure about the whole ance/protein thingy. Sorry I can't help you there. Do you want to gain muscle weight, or are you just looking to add a little fat on those bones? I'm not trying to be mean, but I have a friend that's trying to do that. If you just want to add a little fat, then eat up on the carbs and healthy fats keeping protein high as well...eat lots of bananas and high calorie fruit drinks and peanut butter and stuff. If your looking for weight gain as in muscle, well then your pretty much going to eat the same things. High carb high protein, but try keeping the fat low and make sure it's only healthy fats and no artery clogging saturated fats.
Good Luck!
