I know this has been addressed a million times, but there are conflicting arguments. I have read many articles about creatine and it seems that it doesn't aid as much in the healing process as some people think. Therefore wouldnt it make more sense to take it before your workout rather than after?? From personal experience I feel "the pump" much more when I drink creatine an hour or so before I workout and have a whey protein shake immediately after my workout. Could someone please give me some advice. THANKS!

I have heard that cratine is good for the recovery process and i would recomend taking it post work out. Also I would recomend taking a whey protine before a workout.

from reading all the posts here, the best time to take it is post workout. The theory behind this is that after you workout, your muscles are like a sponge and the creatine is sucked into them much faster then any other time of the day.

I take 5g in the am with water and another 5g post workout with a malto / dextrose mis 50/50 to get an insulin spike to really drive the creatine into my muscles. Hope this helps.

As far as taking it before, you shouldn't feel the pump anymore then if you didn't take it. If loaded properly, the theory is that the creatine is in your muscles. Once you workout, you utilize some of that creatine that was in your muscle, so taking it afterwards replenishes what you have lost during the workout.

Think of it like a gas tank. The loading process fills your tank to the max. When you workout, your tank is full. After you workout, you use some gas so after the workout you want to fill up the tank.

I used to beleive that taking it before was better. I think it gave me more of a plaecbo effect in I thought in drinking it, I was getting a shot of energy until I learned about the gas tank example. Good luck!

I feel that 5 gr. before and 5 gr. after is optimal. Works well for me.:dumbbell:
