I recently bought a 5 pound container of the GNC Mega Whey (I got it for $31) I was just wondering since it has 5 grams glutamine and 3 grams BCAA's per serving is it good to take on days when i don't workout? I would like to take some sort of a protein supplement on my off days to help get enough protein. Should i buy just a plain whey protein for off days and keep the Mega Whey for workout days? Also the Mega Whey serving are 65 grams! It gives 40 grams of protein. That seems like a lot to take on off days and i think it would get really expensive to be taking that much on days when my body might not need that extra glutamine and BCAA's when just taking regular whey would suffice.

Whey is a great post-workout drink. However, to meet your protein goals on a daily basis, you should consider MRPs as whey is absorbed too fast by the body.
Good luck...

One thing to consider...do not make the mistake of not taking your protein on "off" days. Big mistake. Those are your recovery days, and the muscle needs to be nourished. As you may know, you do not grow in the gym, you grow outside of it from proper recovery. As to whey, like rpacheco said, you may want to switch to more of a blend for after your immediate post training day, and days off.
