Providing you are meeting your protein requirements through real food, 1 post workout shake is plenty. Remember it is a supplement.

thats right... "supplement"....
that means, in a far second place after food...real food... whole food...

I take about 4 protein shakes a day each consisting of 23 grams of protein. I take one in the morning, one at lunch, one after workout, and one with milk right before I go to sleep...sometimes it's not so kool because it doesn't really fill you up like food does, and then it leaves you hungry after your normal 400 calorie meal. but right, it's just a supplement and food is better...and tastier might I add. But sometimes can be a bit more expensive

You can take it with milk? I couldn't. My stomach couldn't handle the milk with those supplements. I guess I'm lactose intolerant? or something I don't know but I read that it adds more calories/protein. :(

even if you're NOT lactose intolerant, you'll still get gas if you take too much lactose... that's not fun any day of the week... specially on heavy squats day X_X

well, you could just take your shakes with water for a few days and see if the lack of milk would stop the farting issue...

ive taken it 3 times now straight after a workout and about 2 hours before i got to bed.Had it with water and milk tastes fine to me,one problem though my nights sleep is rubbish, gonna have to stop taking it on a night,is there anything else i can take straight after a workout to get me out of that catabolic state cheers

To prevent the upset stomach and gas, try using whey protein isolate as opposed to the concentrate. Catsneck, for a pre-bed shake, try blending your protein with some cottage cheese, oats, and peanut butter in water. The taste isn't bad and the slow-absorbing proteins will delay the catabolic state.
