This forum doesn't see a lot of (useful) activity, so I thought I'd start another useless thread to see why everyone is training...
Why do you do it, what are your goals, and what is your focus?
I'll start.
I'm a powerlifter and strongman competitor. The human body is my interest, and so I am getting my first degree in a biomechanics related field. It is my passion and my obsession.
My goal is a top 3 place as a Junior in this years US Open (powerlifting), and to earn my pro-card before I turn 25 (strongman).
I train to become stronger. Everything I do in the gym is aimed at this. Being lean and gaining muscle are just nice side benefits.

You need to stop getting hurt Steve. That sh&t is holding you back. :)
I started training to look better naked. Then I got addicted to being as strong as possible. The muscles that grow because of this are definitely a nice side effects. Any leanness that comes out of this goal is a direct result of not wanting to move up a weight class right now.

To move a shitload of iron. I want to eventually compete in powerlifting or strongman. More than that it's a way to relieve stress and to better myself. Lifting weights is as therapeutic as it gets for me.

I'm a sophmore in college but I'm a year younger than every other sophmore because I graduated HS a year early. My major is Chemical Engineering. I'm your classic over acheiver but I never put much thought into my body, just my mind. I'm doing this to lose the freshman 15, to learn to be healthier, and a confidence boost when I go out wouldn't hurt (though not my ultimate goal).
