I just signed up with freetrainers, and I noticed on my personalized plan that I'm supposed to be working tri's and bi's the same day. Classically, I'm used to being told to do opposing muscles, like bi's and back, and chest and tris. They say to split your pushing and pulling muscles. I'm not sure I can follow this odd workout program. Currently I'm working chest and triceps monday, shoulders tuesday, rest/cardio- wed, biceps & back-Thursday Rest/cardio-Friday Legs-Saturday rest/cardio-Sunday. What do you all think of my current? I am trying to lose a few extra pounds as well as tone/firm up.

Well krazymatt there is not one way to work out! The push pull is only one of many workout systems. They all have their pros and cons!!!! The push/pull split is one of my favs but you should not do that all the time. Change is good. So give it a try you might be surprised. Actually I noticed you do one day chest triceps and shoulders the next. So you are doing push exercises two days in a row. You need to put the pull day in between for proper recovery! (chest triceps and shoulder all tie in together in a workout)

Yes Krazy, listen to fitness Queen ltroisi (o: she's all right there. Luckily we got all those different work out systems, otherwise we'll all get bored and wont get further results. The best thing to do, is to try ft's program yourself and see how your body will react (don't worry you'll not hurt it or anything by training tri and bis on the same day) Luck to you!

Thanks so much for the info! So maybe I should do chest and shoulders on one day and bi's and tri's the next? Also, how many different excercises should I do for each targeted muscle? Thanks so much.

Here's what FT is recommending... Monday shoulders - forearms - abs Tuesday legs - calves Wednesday chest Thursday rest Friday back - calves Saturday triceps - biceps - abs Sunday rest
Should I follow it exaclty? Also, how many days, and for how long should I do cardio besides the warm ups before lifting?--considering that I am trying to lose fat. Thanks again. and by the way you both look great on your profile pics. Sure feels good to have some fitness experts on my side!

Do the program as stated by FT. Cardio 4-5 days a week. Whenever you can fit it in. Don't do marathon sessions maybe 30-40 min. to start. I like to do 20-30 minutes following weight training every couple days.

Thanks again. I try sticking to that and see how it pans out. Also, how many different exercises should I do per muscle? For example, for chest day say I do Flat Bench and Incline and Decline, should I do more than that or what? I just want to make sure I don't over train, or under train.
