I was just wondering if dieting would hamper growth of a teen. I know that height is genetic but as teens are still growing, will going on a diet effect the height growth? Or as long as your getting enough protein it'll be fine? Pls help.

Thanks

Extreme excessive lack of nutrition will hinder growth at that age. Just make sure you're eating enough to feed your body and taking vitamins and you should be fine.

If you're referring to dieting to losing weight then just make sure you're not dropping too much, good number would be no more then 300-400 calories below your maintenance. That can vary depending on if you have a low maintenance, so adjust if necessary.

If your goal is to lose fat by dieting you do not necessarily want to eat less. As a teen you need to eat a lot to build lean muscle mass, that will increase your metabolism because muscle is metabolically active. So stick to at least 2000 - 3000 calories per day. Hit the gym hard and keep the calory count up and you won't have to worry about not growing.
