Hi.
I have started doing the following workout and am trying to gather opinions of whether its going to build up my muscles or cause loss of fat (or weight)

I do this about 5 times a week

1. 10k on Exercise bike in about 20mins
2. 4 sets of 5 sit-ups (increasing by 2 a week)
3. 4 sets of 15 Bench presses with 10lbs weight (increasing by 10lbs each week)
4. 4 sets of 15 Barbell arm curls standard grip with 10lbs weight (increasing by 10lbs each week)
4. 4 sets of 15 Barbell arm curls reverse grip with 10lbs weight (increasing by 10lbs each week)
5. 4 sets of 5 sit-ups (increasing by 2 a week)

Any opinions of the work out would be greatly appreciated I mainly wanting to know what me going the above will result in muscle mass/ weight loss or both!

Thanks
Craig

what are your specific goals? your workout is very incomplete in many ways so I am trying to understand what your plans are....also fill out your profile...and be as specific as you can about goals, and current shape...also age might be helpful...

there are many goals....sports specific, functional, powerlifting, bodybuilding, general fitness, the list goes on and on...you need to decide what exactly you're trying to achieve...also weights and reps are not set in stone so 4 sets of 15 reps...are not particularly useful...why are you starting with 10s on bench? are you trying to become comfortable with form? you're afraid to use more weight?(don't misunderstand this, it's not an ego suggestion, but many people use weights that are way too light for them in fear of hurting themselves...this is the reverse of people who put on too much weight to appease their ego)....there are many workouts here...you can search for them or we can help you make one....gl

My main goal is to tone up and lose a bit of fat from my upper body. I'm not trying to gain a lot of muscle mass like a bodybuilder. The main reason I have started with such a low weight is to allow myself to get used to the workout first. But obviously this is not a suitable way of doing it? What changes would you recommend to the workout?

Thanks
