What other types of exercises besides wide pull-ups will hit my wings really good? Only time my wings get sore is when i do weighted wide pull-ups, if i dont do them i dont feel sore there the next day.

Cable pulldowns, lat pulldowns, ie anything that resembles a pullup! that is if 'wings' are lats, since my muscle vocabulary is shamefully lacking. Hope this helps.

The laterals are best activated through the lower half of the pull up region, and are best worked with heavy external loading.
Do a weighted pull ups with 125% of your max, but only bringing the bar down to your forehead.
Also, if he was doing weighted pull ups already, why would he want to do pulldowns and lesser movements?
